Nature Writing

In this generative writing workshop, you’ll have an opportunity to put pen to paper and play with words, taking inspiration from nature and the garden. We’ll write in response to prompts and then read work aloud (optional) and receive precise positive responses. All work is treated as fiction, regardless of genre, to ensure a professional barrier is maintained between the artist and their work. In this kind of workshop, where the writing is fresh and unedited, the discussion is focused on what moves or delights us. Many people use this time to further develop works in progress, work through writer's block, or simply to write in community. Writers of all levels are welcome.

THE DETAILS

• There is a $35 registration fee to attend the Nature Writing workshop, this includes admission to Gardens for the day (discounted rate for current MCBG Members – $25 member registration).
• Please come prepared to wear a mask during the indoor portion of the workshop and consider wearing a mask outdoors when social distancing is not possible.
• The class will include indoor instruction and time to write outdoors. Be prepared for the weather with appropriate layers.
• We recommend bringing along drinking water, a notebook, and a pencil.

Class size is limited! Registration for this walk must be completed in advance online. Please note, all registration fees are non-refundable unless the walk has been canceled or rescheduled by the Gardens.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Teresa is an award-winning author whose fiction and nonfiction are published widely in US and International literary journals and anthologies, including New Millennium Writings, Alaska Quarterly Review, Pure Slush Books, MidAmerican Review, Everyday Fiction, Next Tribe, The Doctor T. J. Eckleburg Review, Best New Writing, and many others. Her stories are recognized in numerous contests, such as at Glimmer Train and Narrative. Her story "War Paint" was awarded the 52nd New Millennium Award for Fiction, 2022, and is included in her collection, Hold Off The Night, a finalist for the Orison Book Prize 2019, and forthcoming from Truth Serum Press, an imprint of Bequem Publishing. She is the founder of Lakeshore Writers Workshop where she leads workshops and classes and offers coaching and developmental editing services.
