Tim Gage brings decades of experience in budgeting and finance, as well as strong board experience and a passion for gardening, to his position on the Board of the Gardens. He has served as the treasurer and the president of the board during his tenure.

Prior to moving to Fort Bragg, Tim worked for the state for nearly 25 years, doing budget work in the Legislature and as Director of Finance. He served on several nonprofit boards and taught a class in public financial management in the University of Southern California’s master’s program in public administration for 11 years.

Tim and his wife visited the Gardens every year for over 25 years when they traveled to the North Coast on their anniversary. After moving to Fort Bragg, Tim attended the Master Gardener program in 2016 and volunteered in the Gardens. Tim was initially appointed to the MCBG Board in September 2018 and elected to the board in 2019. Tim left the board in May 2025 due to term limits, but rejoined it in May 2026.

The amazing staff and volunteers make the Gardens a treasure to visit. Tim’s favorite places in the Gardens are the perennial garden, the display house (especially the begonias), and the wild beauty of the vegetable garden.
