Build a Bouquet

Saturday, August 22

from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM

with MCBG Horticulturist, Phoebe Hanson

[object Object]

Join MCBG Horticulturist Phoebe Hanson for a hands-on workshop that will teach you how to grow, harvest, and arrange beautiful flowers from your own garden. Learn the essentials of creating a thriving cut flower garden, including soil preparation, garden planning, plant selection, and irrigation, before diving into the art of floral design.

Phoebe will share practical techniques for harvesting blooms at their peak, conditioning flowers for longer vase life, and creating balanced, eye-catching arrangements. Whether you are dreaming of a dedicated cutting garden or simply want to make the most of your existing landscape, you will leave with the knowledge and confidence to grow flowers for stunning bouquets all season long.

By the end of the workshop, you will take home a beautiful hand-crafted bouquet, along with the inspiration and skills to create your own fresh floral arrangements at home.

About the Instructor

Phoebe Hanson (she/her) has been practicing horticulture at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens for four years, two of which were spent in the Perennial Garden, where the garden beds have been her canvas for cultivating color, texture, smells, shapes, and forms that humans and pollinators alike enjoy.

Phoebe now manages the produce, herb, and cut flower gardens in the MCBG organic demonstration Vegetable Garden. Prior to her work at the Botanical Gardens, she farmed vegetables and flowers and created bouquets for CSA customers. Her love for flowers has been lifelong.
