Docent Training at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens

March 16, 23, and 30, 2022
9:30am to 12:30pm
in the Gardens Meeting Room and out in the Gardens

Do you love the Gardens and want to learn more about their history and the plant collections? Do you enjoy talking to visitors and sharing your knowledge and love of the Gardens? If this sounds like you, please consider attending the upcoming training to become an MCBG Docent.

Learn to be a garden leader and steward of MCBG' diverse and stunning collections! Docents hold a rewarding and immeasurably important position here at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens. Our docents represent MCBG to the public and engage visitors with their knowledge and enthusiasm for this garden by the sea. They are integral to enhancing the visitor experience. As a docent, you will help Gardens guests of all ages understand and appreciate the Gardens and the plants we display. All attendees of the Docent Training will be expected to commit a minimum of 15 volunteer hours.

MCBG Docent opportunities include:

  • Providing introductory and educational tours for groups of adults and children
  • Leading guests on regularly scheduled tours touching on the main points of interest in the Gardens
  • Assisting with educational programs at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens

Join a community of lifelong learners and plant lovers! We are hosting an extensive three-part Docent Training on March 16, March 23, and March 30 in the MCBG Meeting Room from 9:30AM to 12:30AM.  Each session will include classroom instruction and a walk through the Gardens to become familiar with collections, trails, and MCBG history.  Docents will receive a coveted Docent Handbook that is chock full of history and information that will serve as a reference. If you have a passion for the Gardens and want to share it with our visitors, please consider this rewarding opportunity.

If you can join us, please RSVP to the MCBG Garden Manager, Jaime Jensen at We strongly recommend you attend all 3 sessions.
