Mae E. Lauer Display House (Begonias and Fuschias)
In summer and early fall, the Mae E. Lauer Display House is filled to the rafters with begonias and fuchsias. Named for one of the Gardens' long-time volunteers, it houses one of the world's best shows of tuberous begonias and fuchsias. Among the varieties are upright growing and hanging baskets of begonias in red, pink, yellow, orange and white flowers, offset by fuchsia standards of purple, lavender, crimson, pink, fuchsia, and white. The floral show peaks in July and August, and adding to the experience are the many darting hummingbirds who, like us, find the flowers irresistible.
