Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens proudly announces an exciting new event – My Garden. This fundraising event is expected to become one of the top three annual fundraisers within Mendocino County. My Garden will take place on Saturday, May 25, 2013, Memorial Day Weekend, in the beautiful MCBG Perennial Garden.

Enjoy award winning premium local wine, beer and cocktails while strolling through the beautiful scenery of the gardens and previewing the brilliantly hand crafted one-of-a-kind items built exclusively for My Garden 2013 by local Mendocino County craftsmen. The afternoon will culminate with a live auction of the craftsmen items and a delicious sit down gourmet farm-to-table dinner for 300 people which will highlight the best of what Mendocino County has to offer.
Kate Frey will be our featured speaker. Kate is a world class garden designer and consultant, specializing in sustainable, bio-diverse, ecological gardens and landscaping. Kate won the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show in London, receiving gold medals in 2005, 2007 and receiving a Silver Gilt in 2003. Currently she directs and teaches at Sonoma State University’s Sustainable Landscape Program with Extended Education, as well as consulting for various wineries and residences around California, such as The Melissa Garden in Healdsburg and Lyn Mar Winery in Sebastopol. She and her husband Ben, consult and work part time in Saudi Arabia on a small, organic farm near Riyadh for one of the Saudi Princes.
