The best way to learn about gardens is to spend time in them. Make your plans now to visit some of America’s best gardens this year through the Garden Conservancy’s Open Days progam.

Since 1995, the Open Days program has provided behind-the-scenes access to some of this country's finest private gardens, offering visitors the rare opportunity to spend time in beautiful spaces not normally available for public viewing. In 2011, more than 350 private gardens in 18 states opened their gates for the public's enjoyment and the chance to explore, first-hand, examples of outstanding design and horticultural practice.

Proceeds from the Open Days Program support the national preservation work of the Garden Conservancy such as the rehabilitation of the gardens on Alcatraz Island, as well as local nonprofit organizations designated by the private garden hosts.
