This Blooming Gardens…Rocks On!

Saturday & Sunday – September 3 & 4, 2011 – Labor Day Weekend

As Mother Nature continues to keep this ‘Gardens’ blooming at a frantic pace …the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens prepares to welcome two musical giants during Labor Day weekend, September 3rd & 4th.  This year the Gardens plays host to a dynamic Jazz, Rhythm and Blues series featuring the soulful Maria Muldaur and guitar great Roy Rogers.

On ‘The Green’, fringed by the bluffs overlooking the Pacific, the outdoor venue offers a special ‘coolness’ not only in the freshness of the air but in the surroundings.  Towering pine trees, wandering paths and beautiful gardens lead you to the tented event site. Away from the hustle of urban life, this quiet open-air venue lends a unique clarity to the music – here, on Labor Day weekend, Mother Nature and musical genius compete for center stage.

Maria Muldaur & Her Red Hot Bluesiana Band, Saturday, September 3rd; Maria Muldaur, interpreter of every type of “American roots music’ – blues, early jazz, gospel, fold, country, R&B and the sounds of Louisiana – ties her eclecticism together with romantic sensuality and bring dozens of numbers we know and love to the stage.  Her shows are pure fun – so you can listen, dance or sing along with one of the true originals.

Roy Rogers & The Delta Rhythm Kings, Sunday, September 4th Roy Rogers brings his slide guitar, 8 Grammy nominations and, of course, The Delta Rhythm Kings to the Mendocino Coast.  If you are a fan, you already know, but if not, find out why Rolling Stone calls Roy “An exceptionally articulate slide guitarist” and USA Today said Roy’s riffs “could peel a crawfish”.

Nestled on the bluffs between towering redwoods and the sea, this 47-acre Gardens and the surrounding seaside community have something for everyone.

Tickets on Sale now at Harvest Market, Out of this World in Mendocino, The Gardens’ Store and on-line Here!
