THE PERENNIAL GARDEN
The Perennial Garden contains several hundred species and cultivars of herbaceous plants representing many regions of the world. They are well suited to a climate featuring wet winters and mild summers. The frequent wind or fog that comes in high and fast puts a cooling and humidifying blanket between the sun and the earth thus reducing the sun's intensity. The raised beds provide extra drainage for the Mediterranean natives which dislike summer irrigation. Feel free to walk on the grass as you enjoy this garden, home to our annual fundraiser, Art in the Gardens, held every second Saturday in August.
