THE NORTH FOREST

The North Forest was once a two-acre area of Bishop pine. Many of the old and fragile trees were uprooted during the harsh winter storms of 1995-96 and others had their tops blown down. As a result of this devastation the decision was made to partially clear this area and redesign it with trails to walk so everyone may enjoy its serenity. The area was replanted with species rhododendrons, magnolias, mixed conifers and native ground covers. Many of the plants are now maturing and the trees have grown tall enough to start a wind break.
